The first step to setting up a new corporation in Alberta, or moving a company from another jurisdiction to Alberta, is obtaining a NUANS Report. This report allows the Registrar to determine if there are companies with exact or confusingly similar names already registered. It also allows you to determine if there are any existing trademarks that could bar you from using the name you have chosen even if it can be registered under current legislation. This report is also required before a company can be incorporated Federally. I am an Accredited Alberta NUANS Agent, which allows me to process reports that will be used for Alberta purposes. This includes preparing the paperwork, filing documents with the appropriate government agency, and providing you with the necessary minute books needed to maintain your new company.
